Hello my dear followers!

I know I haven't done much lately, but just to let you know: I am still alive!

Unfortunately, I don't have as much time available anymore as I used to for working on myLANsite. I know that many of you have been asking for an updated version of myLANsite for Joomla 1.5.

I had a look at it - actually quite a while back already when it still was in Beta. I guess it would be quite easy to make it "work". But as I am a perfectionist, I would wanna make it work well. And for that, I would have to start over. There is lots of code in myLANsite which I am not particularily proud of. I have learned much since I wrote the first few lines here. So this has left me with a very hard to maintain codebase. It is very difficult for me to add new features and therefore cannot respond to most of your wishes. I have many great ideas on what could be done with myLANsite - and many of you have sent me more! But I personally do not see any point in adding features to the current codebase, as it will just make it harder and harder in the future.

The main problem I actually have is: I do not know how many of you are actually using myLANsite (or would be using it if it ran on 1.5). If I knew that there is a considerable userbase which want most of the myLANsite features, I might be more inclined to make more time to work on it and add the improvements you all ask for.

So - what does this mean for you?

  1. Time is dear
  2. If you ARE using myLANsite, let me know. Also let me know which parts of it you use (seatmap, paypal integration, tournaments, catering, ...)! I have got some improvements ready but haven't released them yet.
  3. If you are NOT using myLANsite but want to (if it ran on 1.5), also let me know. And again, I need to know which components and parts of it you mostly need
  4. If you drop me an email, also let me know the average size of your events, the number of tournaments you run, what tournament modes you like to use, etc... etc..
  5. If you want to Donate , feel free to do so ;-)

I will wait until I got some responses and will then update you all again either here or via mail.

Regards

Samuel
