I was thinking to myself, when checking people out, that it would be nice to have it automatically send them an email thanking them for attending the LAN, when the next LAN is, etc...

Of course the email would be edittable via a component of your module.

Doable?

What purpose exactly does the checkout system have?

Youp, certainly doable.

I hope I can get a decent Feature Request tracker installed soon. There are so many good ideas and I think I already forgot about half of them

The purpose of the system? For you to know, who is here. Or people can search the participants list to see whether their mate already arrived.
