is there any way for users of the forum to sign up for a event by using their forum login/password? Then for new users who register for the event, to also have a new forum account created for them at the same time?

I know that it has been said that if PHPBB/VB are updated, that they could possibly break the bridge.

I just want to know if it is possible and if it has been done. If so how?

If a fix needs to take place every time there is an update to the forums, I think that it is well worth it.

Any chance on mylansite ever developing this feature?

On the off shot that I do use fireboard, which advertises no bridges or hacking (the exact thing im looking at), how would I perform the requested task by integrating the sign up list with forums?

First of all, I _really_ do recommend using Fireboard. Using bridge-component is just too much of a hassle and Fireboard is pretty neat.

If however you are using a bridge component, you could just put code in your bridge component to add users to the jos_mls_events_participants table every time a new user signs up.
