Server moved

Over the last few days, I have been configuring a new webserver. I got my own dedicated root server now to host mylansite.org (and some other projects).Last night, the DNS server has been updated to point at this new server. If you are seeing this, you are on the new server already. I hope that everything goes ok but if you do find any issues, please use the Contact (/Contact-Me/) form to drop me a note.I have also moved the Subversion Repository (https://dtc.samhostuk.net/svn/mylansite/) and Trac (http://trac.samhostuk.net/mylansite/) website to this server. With all this done, I hope that I finally find some more time to reply to your emails, monitor the forums and work through the Bugs and FMRs in the Bugtracker (/Bugs/).If you've got a spare minute to send me a small encouraging email and tell me how much you love myLANsite, please do so ;-). I always love to see websites using my component and can also give you feedback if I see that you could use them differently or find errors on your own websites. RegardsSamuel

New version of com_mls_tournaments released

... and guess what? It's great!!!Although it just took me about 10 minutes to do the changes, one of the most awaited features is built in. It may be not as nice as I originally had planned, but it does the job. And because pictures say more than a thousand words, here you are:Did it click ? You can now finally define whether participants must have paid to be able to register for tournaments. Many people have asked for this option because they run events where people pay at the door. So finally it's here! If you find any bugs, add them to the Bugtracker (/Bugs/) as usual (make sure you select type Bug).

MAJOR bug in tournaments component fixed

Heads up all!I have just received a bugreport about com_mls_tournaments. You were unable to start tournaments with more than 16 participants (more than 8 matches in the first round). In the Admin backend, the script to start the tournament would hang until the php defined max execution time. And the fix is trivial. It is already in the SVN trun (Rev 128) :)Check out what it is here: http://tools.assembla.com/mylansite/changeset/128 (http://tools.assembla.com/mylansite/changeset/128) You can download the fixed admin.mls_tournaments.html.php file here (http://tools.assembla.com/mylansite/browser/trunk/com_mls_tournaments/admin.mls_tournaments.html.php?format=raw) (make sure you upgraded to the latest version before).Any questions, pop them into the forum or drop me a line.CheersSamuelUPDATE Mon, 11. December:Not everybody might have seen this, but a new version of com_mls_tournaments (0.1.3) has been released which contains this fix. So there is no need to manually download the file. Get the new version here (index.php?option=com_docman Itemid=12 task=cat_view gid=15) .

I'm back

Hi all,Some of you might have realized that it has gone very quiet around the project in the last two months. Well, there is an explanation.First of all, I moved home at the end of June. I still live in the lovely county of Hertfordshire, in Welwyn Garden City (http://www.picturesofengland.com/England/Hertfordshire/Welwyn_Garden_City/pictures), to be precise. The world's first Garden City (http://www.google.com/search?q=town+planning+Welwyn+Garden+City), pioneer even to cities and towns built in the US.Well, and shortly after that, on the 29th of July, I was up to something else (http://gallery.mylansite.org/Wedding) which needed some preparation and time :).Following this, a 2-week holiday in Thailand (Bangok and Koh Samui). Then I was home and working again, but just relaxing. But now I am back.I hope to be working through the list of open Bugs and Feature Requests as quickly as possible. Please also drop me emails with your experience with the software. Send me anything. If you love a feature, or hate a feature, thing the GUI is not intuitive or want something changed completely. As long as we can have some discussion about this project here so I know what I'm at here!So then, speak to you soon!Samuel

20'000 Downloads!

20'000 Downloads!I actually missed, it. Yesterday at 21:16pm, the 20-thousandth download has been made from the website! This is an incredible amount, considering that the counter is just running for 16 months. This download was:Date: 2006-06-18 21:16:08User: AnonymousIP: 84.185.253.(...)Document: mod_mls_eventstatus 0.0.1Browser: Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4Operating System: Windows XP We can see a huge peak in May 2005 (2562) which was mainly due to the announcement of my components on the Joomla Extensions website (http://extensions.joomla.org (http://extensions.joomla.org)). If my calculation is correct, we should hit 1830 this month, which is quite high as well!Unfortunately, the number of Donations (/Donations/) is still in no relation what so ever to the number of downloads. Many hundred thanks to the guys who appreciate the work I am doing and the hours I am putting in for their Donations (/Donations/). And many thanks to the people who already promised to send me something. If you too want to donate but to not have a PayPal account, drop me a line (/Contact-Me/). I am sure I can think of something (buy me something of Amazon or so).

myLANsite Database Schema

If you ever wanted to write you own modules it might be useful to have an understanding of the myLANsite Database Schema. From the table and key-names, it should be pretty obvious, but as I like fabFORCE's DBDesigner (http://www.fabforce.net/dbdesigner4/) that much, I just quickly reverse-engineered my database. I left out all the Joomla tables to keep it simple. And as I do not have a PDF printer here, I had to take screenshots and put them together in mspaint.exe. But it suits the purpose :)Wherever you see a field called userid or eventid , you know that it links to the id field of either the jos_users or the jos_mls_events table although these links are not displayed (to make it look nicer). http://www.mylansite.org/Downloads/task,cat_view/gid,43/ (Downloads/task,cat_view/gid,43/)If you are looking for a Joomla! DB-schema, have a look here (http://www.bedre.no/joomla_tutorials/for_utviklere/joomla_1.5_database_schema.html) . Although it is based on the upcoming 1.5 version, not much has changed between the current 1.0.8 and 1.5.
