Hi all Just thought, you might want to hear again from me after it has been quiet for quite a while. To be perfectly honest, I have not done much during the past few months, but really started off again a couple of weeks ago. I am mainly working on improvements on the tournaments component. As you might have realized, I finally removed the WWCL and NGL stuff from the teams component (these are two LAN leagues in Europe/Germany), as they are only confusing for you people in other parts of the world. In the new versions of the Teams, Events and Tournament components, I have a totally new approach on integrating leagues - and it looks great! New leagues can now be added as plugins, totally independent of the underlying component. So it does not directly "hack" into the existing code, allowing me to update the league-specific stuff independently and allowing you to just install the leagues which you really need. There is even a possibility for Third Party Developers to integrate their own leagues into myLANsite!
Unfortunately, the Tournament component will still only have Double- and Single-Elimination tournaments, as I have not received any feedback on other tournament modes from you. I started working on a way of assigning times to the matches and automatically assigning the servers too, but stopped it in favour of the new leagues system, as both tasks are quite extensive and need quite some work. But I fixed quite a few bugs mainly in the Ranking system. I also improved the teams component. Basically, I got rid of the separate page to manage the members. All members can now be managed when you edit the team - how nice! So you will have a nice list of the members and can promote/demote them as leaders and members, delete them and add new members with just one click when viewing the team! I am trying to improve useability in all components, as you might have seen in the new Catering component which I released a while back (Popup messages, direct links between different pages, less clicks and page reloads to do related tasks, JavaScript to dynamically change forms as you enter data, ...). I will also update the Events component with some configuration options. So the long awaited option to mark every user automatically as "paid" when he signs up, allowing him to reserve a seat directly for you guys which use "pay at event" rather than pay in advance. I hope to have finished work in a week or two - so watch this space! I will probably release the new components to some testers before releasing them public. If you would like to beta-test, please send me an email with a short explanation on why you would like to join the schema. I will only release them to people who can do serious testing of the tournaments component (creating teams, tournaments, let them join the tournaments, start it, play it through, check the league XML exports, check useability, bugs, ...). Remember: For all components with versions above 0.1.0, you will have to 0.1.0 first to be able to use the new easy-upgrade as I removed the legacy-upgrade options to reduce code-overload in the new versions. For versions 0.1.0, please refer to the upgrade instructions. Manual As you might know, I have a manual on http://manual.mylansite.org . But this one will disappear as I started a new manual in Wiki-Style (http://www.mylansite.org/Manual/).
