Add-on idea for the seatmap 3 Years ago Karma: 1
Moensch,

I had a brainstorm idea for the seatmap module.

Once a LAN has closed registration, the site administrator can print out a seating chart.

As well as the seating chart, the administrator would be able to print out a small card (user settable sizes) for EACH person as follows:

----------------------------------------------
LAN NAME (big letters at the top)
DATE
SEAT #
Occupied by (big letters)
Reserved by
IP address (if specified in the seatmap module)
misc info
------------------------------------------------

Would this be hard to do?

What do you mean by the "Seating Chart"? Like a CSV export for Excel with a list of the users? This is fairly easy to do. Which information would you like in the list?

The second thing would have to be done with a PDF module to create the cards in PDF. Technically easy, but time consuming.

Here is how I see it working...

Before the LAN, I click on "Print out LAN package".

In that package, the first page would show the seating chart (basically a printscreen of the seatmap page).

Then there would be a page for each person after that. On the page would be the person's name, seating location, and other relevant info to that person. That way when a person enters the LAN, they sign in, get their packet, and find their seat. They would be able to refer to their page to get their seat, IP address, tournaments signed up for, teams joined, etc...

Then there would be another group of pages that are printed for the tournaments, teams, etc...

A .pdf file would be great. I'd love to discuss this more, so like I said before, feel free to go to www.uqlan.com and login to our webchat (on the homepage) to communicate in real time with me.

Here is sorta what I had in mind. I think we can build off of this, change what needs changed, add to it how we see fit.

Let me know what you think of it. Keep in mind that almost all of the info should be automatically filled in by the backend seatmap, tournament, teams, and events modules.<br><br>Post edited by: g0t0pless, at: 2006/01/05 07:24
